One diner recommends a medium-rare burger with extra grilled onions, alongside garlic-cheddar fries.
Super Duper is very good quality for the price. It’s still wild to my old ass that $10ish bucks is cheap for a burger but it’s about as good as you’ll get in that area.
I frequent the Super Duper on Mission and Spear. Has outdoor seating and great burgers for the price. Sub for a ciabatta bun!

Beep's Burgers
Ingleside
One recommendation is the classic burger with Beep’s sauce.
Beeps
Beeps, for me, is top tier burger.
The person who bought Beeps Burgers had the same vision & the burgers are the best & that place is ALWAYS busy. Open late night too. They got rid of alot of stuff on the previous menu to just focus ob great burgers & high quality ingredients.

In-N-Out
Fisherman's Wharf
At the Fisherman's Wharf location, try a Double-Double Animal Style burger.
You can grab burgers at In & Out along fisherman’s wharf.
And as a major in n out fan boy, id recommend trying their Paul Kantner burger.
If you’ve never been to CA or San Francisco, I suggest In N Out to say you went. It’s not the best burger ever, but it’s a CA classic.

Sam’s Burgers
North Beach
A greasy burger may suit you: one Broadway mention says it’s worth the grease, though comments on quality are divided.
Sam’s in Chinatown/North Beach for burgers
Someone else pointed out that Sam's on Broadway is also Palestinian-owned. I love their burgs too but it's been a bit since I have been in.
Pearls or Sam's (a real greasy spoon/dive but so, so good)for burgers.

Maillard’s
Outer Sunset
Try the Thai-chili smash burger; one diner recommends it and reports long lines after 5:30.
Maillards + $3 pint from two pitchers while you wait. This is the way
agreed, it is a great authentic smash burger. which means if someone has had an authentic smash burger before, they’ve had maillards.
Maillard out by the beach has the best smash burgers I’ve ever had anywhere, and it’s less than $15. Get the one with Thai chili. Huge like after 5:30 is the only drawback, but there’s a brewpub attached so you can have a beer while you wait.

Red's Java House
on the waterfront
Try a burger on sourdough rather than a standard bun.
Last thing I recommend reds Java cafe for a burger, fries and beer it’s located on marina directly under bay bridge with stunning views and peaceful ambiance.
Perfect day for a cold beer and a cheeseburger out on the back deck of Red's too.
Red's Java House is a great spot for decent burgers, cheap beer, great views, and they can hep you set up a party/group reservation/experience.

Bill’s Place

Gott's Roadside
Ferry Building · Napa
One recommendation favors Gott’s for a pricier, all-around better burger experience at the Ferry Building.
burgers: pearl’s, gott’s
Maybe Gott's Roadside (in the Ferry Building or Napa) would have burgers that they like (plus somewhere to walk around & shop afterwards).
Gotts! They allow you to customise all the burgers to make veggie burgers. And they have a house made veggie patty option which is solid.

Causwells
Try the burger with onion straws; one diner praised it, while another found the smash burger decent but not a standout.
Excellent burgers. They don’t even ask how you want it cooked because it’s always perfect!
