The Coffee Movement
Try a coffee flight: sample three coffees, or compare one coffee as filter, espresso, and with milk.
I was buying a cappuccino from "The Coffee Movement." When the dude said "That’ll be $4" I said "What?? FOUR DOLLARS?" He asked if that was a good thing or a bad thing, and I told him I’m paying at least $7 for it in KC lmao
You should instead get coffee @ The Coffee Movement and breakfast at Maison Nico (Quiche or Croque Monsieur)
Mine would probably include some baked good for breakfast and coffee from the Coffee Movement
Worth knowing
Multiple commenters raised the setting concerns; one reported "it’s not a sit and work place" (branch unspecified).

Sightglass Coffee
A reviewer recommends the vanilla iced cold coffee, noting its infusion with actual vanilla bean paste.
+1 on sightglass, great coffee shop and spacious
lol nyc is so bad at cute coffee shops you can sit down and relax in there’s absolutely nothing like four barrel or sight glass or saint franks or the mill (before the fire) in nyc
Sight glass

Andytown coffee roasters
Try the Snowy Plover, described as a coffee cream soda; one commenter recommends it on warm days.
Andytown
There’s also an Andytown Coffee Roasters right on the beach that could be a really cool spot to grab coffee.
Maybe you could do one of the well known SF roasters like Saint Frank, Andytown, Linea, Sightglass, Ritual, etc.

At the Mariposa location, try the salt maple latte.

Hedge Coffee
Mission
Try the mocha: a Mission visitor praised its bittersweet chocolate and said its quality came through.
Hedge Coffee is a new spot in the Mission and I swear that was the best mocha I have ever had in my life. They use bittersweet chocolate and you can taste its high quality.
But when I'm wanting to splurge on a fancy coffee, I like to get a cortado from my local spots like equator, ritual, four barrel or hedge.
top tier: hedge, better half )to get flower child beans), coffee movement, four barrel

Caffe Trieste
North Beach
Try the mocha, specifically recommended by several visitors.
head to Caffe Trieste in North Beach if you want classic Italian espresso and a lively late-night hangout vibe.
Have a cappuccino at the Caffe Trieste
stop by Caffe Trieste for cappuccino

Ritual Coffee Roasters
Pour-over is a good bet: one commenter recommends it, and another prefers Ritual’s beans for pour-overs over espresso.
I only drink espresso black or as an Americano. I personally like Saint Frank, Sightglass, Ritual (particularly the Jaguar), but there's many others as folks note.
Ritual Coffee Sweet Tooth is all I ever drink at this point.
then coffee at The Mill or Ritual up the street
8
Philz Coffee
For a sweet, creamy drink, try the mint mojito; one commenter specifically goes to Philz for it.
Philz. More than one location in FiDi.
Philz has excellent coffee too, much better than Peet’s
As far as chain coffee shops go I always prefer Philz, Pete’s and Sbux, and Dunkin.

Multiple commenters raised price and value concerns; one reported "whatever overpriced crap they’re pouring at philz or whatever." (branch unspecified).

Equator
Try the banana latte, described as flavorful without tasting overly sweet or artificial.
Equator for sure. Even though Equator is local, I always order from their online shop. They always send me beans that were roasted the day they ship and they arrive within 1-2 days
equator
Second equator coffee!

Four Barrel Coffee
Mission
Try coffee on tap if you prefer cold coffee; a cortado is another specifically praised order.
Four Barrel in the Mission - a couple of BART stops away
lol nyc is so bad at cute coffee shops you can sit down and relax in there’s absolutely nothing like four barrel or sight glass or saint franks or the mill (before the fire) in nyc
☕ Coffee + laptop time: Sightglass in Hayes Valley, Ritual, or Four Barrel in the Mission.
Worth knowing
Multiple commenters raised taste concerns; one reported "I honestly think four barrel is one of the worst offenders for sour/bitter coffees." (branch unspecified).
